Are nutritional supplements helpful?

Yes! Most Americans diets are very poor. Even if you eat right, the quality of nutrients even in "organic foods" is falling. It is generally believed that the US FDA greatly underestimates your need for vitamins and minerals. You should especially supplement Vitamins A, C, and E. Calcium, magnesium, Chromium, and selenium are examples of important mineral supplements. Your doctor should be able to help you, but realize most medical doctors are poorly trained in nutrition, so you may need to seek other sources.
